I do not usually drink soda but I would purchase strawberry
Fanta after seeing this advertisement. I like the idea of my tongue taking on a
strawberry taste after I drink this beverage. It reminds me of being a child
and sticking my tougue out for a photo after it was dyed by some popsicle, candy, or drink.
The photographer used tight cropping. According to the textbook, by using this micro-perspective "...they force us to look at
the subject in a new way." I enjoy the similarities the strawberry
has to the tongue. It is a comparable color and shape and the seeds look like taste
buds. I also appreciate the color choices of the photo; black, white and tan are very neutral. The pink
and red give an extra visual appeal. The
strawberry was probably coated with something to make it shine more in the
light and shot separately then photoshopped in. The diagonal lines in the image
along her mouth and chin create a dynamic element of movement. Jim reminded me
of the painstaking process in shooting commercial photography. After his
lecture as I look at this image I think about how long that poor model had to
stick her tongue out. I wonder if her jaw was tired after the shoot!

Katelyn - Michelle! I also relate to you because I usually don't drink soda either, but this ad makes me want to go eat some strawberries! The use of tight cropping creates a sense of mystery of who this person is - but the whole message of the ad (in my opinion) is to show that Fanta excites your taste buds above all else!
ReplyDeleteJen P. So, the first thing I thought of when I saw the pic was "that looks like when we were kids and our tongues would turn the color of whatever we were drinking/eating! Aaaannnndddd, then I saw YOUR picture. haha! It's a good advertisement. I wonder how many others thought the same thing? (meaning, your tongue color when you ate/drank as kids...)
ReplyDeleteI love this! I think it is soooo cute. I saw the first picture and wondered if it was an advertisement for a strawberry sucker until I started reading your blog and it was even better. Fanta soda - now I want one :)

ReplyDeleteTotal throw back to our childhood days! I remember doing the same thing with my siblings, especially with candy! And yes, as glamorous as modeling sounds, it has its moments!
The photo you selected was quite perfect! I dislike strawberries - so this ad lets me know I REALLY don't want this beverage! That pic of you and your little brother is an adorable compliment to this post!

I am not a big fan of Fanta, but this is a creative way to catch someone's attention. Cute throwback photo! -Christy

ReplyDeleteI guess it's just me, but I found the advertisement photo somewhat disturbing, though I'm really not able to articulate why. However, once you drew the analogy to popsicle tongue I felt less threatened.

ReplyDeleteDefinitely interesting. I am with everyone regarding the nastolgia of the picture. It certainly reminds me on eating something crazy and having your mouth change color. Perhaps that's why it doesn't appeal to me personally. Having braces with food changing color is my daily battle. It's more of a PSA for me. :)
I do think for any other more normal person than myself, it WOULD attract an audience to try.

ReplyDeleteI just love that advertisement. It reminds me of a journal I had in fourth grade that was just covered in these beautiful, lush, red, shiny strawberries. Definitely makes me yearn for a hot summer day, picking strawberries with my family and then sitting out on the patio all night cleaning the fruit in preparation for making jam.

ReplyDeleteAll the times my tongue has been a random color!
